Good Faith Estimate Notice
Under federal law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) outlining the anticipated cost of your care.
If you are not using insurance or do not have insurance coverage, your provider is required to give you an estimate of expected charges for services. This estimate reflects the total cost of non-emergency care, which may include services typically associated with medical treatment. While many of these categories (such as lab work or hospital fees) may not apply to therapy, the law is designed to promote transparency in all health care costs.
In my practice, we review and agree upon session fees in advance so you have a clear understanding of the cost of therapy. Upon request, you can receive a written Good Faith Estimate prior to beginning services.
You are entitled to receive your GFE at least one business day before your scheduled appointment. You may also request a GFE from any provider before committing to services.
If you are billed at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, are invited to discuss your concerns about the about the increased amount.
It’s recommended that you keep a copy of your estimate for your records.
